What’s In Store for the 2016 Offshore Season?

For the 2016 season, we will spending time once again targeting Big Eye Tuna since we had such great success catching them the in the last two seasons.  We have landed 20+ Big Eye Tuna, most over 200 pounds in the last two seasons.  We have a vast arsenal of lures, spreader bars and daisy chains we use to attract these “Devil Tuna” plus years of experience on large tuna which have all contributed to the great seasons we have recently had.  Almost all our Big Eyes were caught in the late afternoon, at night or just as the sun was rising so if you would like an honest chance to target them you need to be in the canyons during these time periods when the best bite occurs.

Big Eyes spend most of their time in the deeper colder water and only come up to the warmer surface waters to feed and digest their food during each 24 hour period. Our 24 and 30 hour overnight canyon trips allow us to be in the canyons when the Big Eyes come up to the warmer surface waters plus target other species at night such as Yellowfin Tuna, Swordfish and large Mako Sharks. If you really want a legit chance at a Big Eye we strongly suggest an overnight trip this coming season.

Bluefin Tuna Well Over 100 lbs in June and July On Our 12 Hour Day Trips

We have had some great inshore Bluefin Tuna fishing in the last two fishing seasons at the inshore lumps and hills. Our 12 hour day trips are designed to take advantage of this fishery without the cost of a 15 hour canyon trip. We specialize in jigging for Bluefin’s and on these trips and have world class tackle jigging tackle on board specially designed to do this. Whether we jig, chunk or troll we have some of the best tackle on board the Hooked Up II for targeting large tuna.

Early Season Yellowfin Tuna in May and June

We have had some great day trolling trips on Yellowfin Tuna in recent years. If the conditions are right in late May and June these day trips can provide some of the finest tuna fishing of the whole summer.  Last season we had several trips where we limited out on daytime chunking for yellowfin tuna in the 70-90 pound class range.  With over 500 tuna caught in the last 2 years, fishing aboard the Hooked Up II can provide some of the best fishing experiences of your life.

If you are single or small party let us know and we will put you on the list for an early season open boat trip targeting Yellowfin Tuna. Contact us for additional details concerning early season Yellowfin Tuna fishing out of Cape May, NJ on the Hooked Up II.

*There is no way of knowing until just prior to your trip how far we will have to run to get the best tuna fishing. For the most part the last two years the best fishing out of Cape May, NJ was an 85-95 mile run with not much in our closer local canyons except for a few good days. One of the main reasons we have caught so many tuna ( Yellowfins, Big Eyes) in recent years is the Hooked Up II has the size and speed to make the 90 mile runs if necessary to put a great catch together. We realize these trips are expensive but at times you just have to go to where the tuna are residing and there is no shortcuts if you want to have banner catches. We discuss this with all our customers prior to their trip and try our best to give them an honest opinion on all the variables affecting their upcoming offshore trip. Captain John has made over 1000 trips for tuna over the last 25 years plus and along with his crew of mates are some of the absolute best at catching all species of tuna. If they are out there we will catch them for our customers.* *These are cash prices and there will be a 3% charge for all credit card payments.* It should be noted that we try not to fish by the clock. We can promise that we will work hard to try to put you on the fish the whole time we are out fishing. If it takes longer than the amount of time advertised, we do what it takes. For example, if the fishing becomes red hot 7.5 hours into the trip on an 8 hour trip, we will fish until it cools off, not just tell you to pull in the lines and head back to port!! We feel this policy offers our customers the best opportunity to catch fish.
